The Catholic Parish Church of SS Gregory & Augustine, founded 1912
Safeguarding
The Parish of SS Gregory and Augustine is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the Church. We work closely with the Archdiocese of Birmingham Safeguarding Team to create a safe environment for children, young people and adults at risk.
You can read more about the policies and procedures in place on the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency website, at the Bishops Conference of England Wales Safeguarding page at https://www.cbcew.org.uk/safeguarding/, https://www.cbcew.org.uk/the-isaiah-journey/ and the Safeguarding page of the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
If you are concerned about the welfare of a child or adult at risk, do not delay in contacting the police, using 999 if a child or adult is believed to be in immediate danger.
It is the policy of the Catholic Church in England and Wales to report all allegations of abuse to statutory authorities, regardless of whether the abuse occurred recently or in the past, or whether the accused person is living or deceased.
If you are in any role within the Catholic Church in England and Wales, you must refer allegations directly to the safeguarding office for your diocese or religious congregation, or directly to the Police.
If you are a member of the public, please refer allegations directly to the police and also to the safeguarding office in the Archdiocese of Birmingham (telephone 0121 230 6240 or safeguarding@rcaob.org.uk). You can also contact the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency by telephoning 0207 901 1920 or via email at admin@catholicsafeguarding.org.uk.
Our Parish Safeguarding Representative is Claire Harrington.

Safeguarding Survey 2025
All Dioceses and Religious Life Groups (RLGs) have been asked by the The Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency (CSSA) to share a public survey inviting survivors to contribute their experiences. The purpose of this public call is to gather information from anyone who has had recent contact with the Archdiocese of Birmingham, or any other Diocese or RLG. This includes experiences that are new or ongoing, as well as those connected to non-recent abuse, both in a faith context and outside of faith. While the primary focus is the period from July 2024 onwards, the CSSA do not wish to limit what survivors choose to share.
Information regarding this survey can be found via:
www.catholicsafeguarding.org.uk/contact-us-and-other-information/public-calls-for-information/

If you haven’t previously engaged with the Archdiocese of Birmingham Safeguarding team but feel that it would be helpful to do so, please don’t hesitate to contact the Safeguarding office on 0121-230-6240, or by emailing safeguarding@rcaob.org.uk.
The survey is an important step in ensuring that survivor voices are heard, valued, and used to shape future safeguarding practice. We are committed to supporting survivors with compassion and sensitivity and are grateful to all those who have already shared their experience and work in partnership with us to improve support for survivors”
