The Paschal Candle
This year’s Paschal Candle has been beautifully painted for us by Mrs Freddie Quartley. The image reproduces the fresco of the Resurrection painted in Rome in the 1490s by Pinturicchio.
Eastertide Blessing of Houses
Please let me know if you would like me to bless your home during Eastertide.
Newly-married Catholic doctors seeking accommodation in central/south Oxford: annexe, etc. Please email email@example.com.
You will notice that several days this week the intention of the Mass is given as ‘Celebrant’s intention’. This means that no one has asked for a Mass to be said. Most of the time we have an abundance of Mass intentions, but recently there has been a dropping off. This concerns me greatly because asking for a Mass to be offered is a beautiful act of faith in the power of the Sacrifice of the Mass, of hope in the faithfulness and goodness of God, and of charity towards others. If you would like Mass to be offered, whether for your own intentions or someone else, living or dead, then write the details on one of the small brown envelopes available in the narthex, include any offering you would like to make, and pass on the envelope to me through the Presbytery letter-box or in the collection plate.
Kate Yanisch is returning to her native USA after over sixty years of residence in this country. I know that she goes with the love and prayers of her many friends in the parish.

+ Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
The tomb is empty.
It is a silent witness to the central event of human history: the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For almost two thousand years the Empty Tomb has borne witness to the victory of Life over death.
With the Apostles and Evangelists, with the Church of every time and place,
we too bear witness and proclaim:
‘Christ is risen! Raised from the dead, He will never die again; death no longer has power over Him” (cf. Rom. 6:9).
St John Paul II
